Celsias is a world famous (and not just in NZ) web site with Kiwi roots. They’ve finally got a New Zealand site up and running, and so I asked editor Chris Tobias to tell us what they’re up to:
Celsias.co.nz has launched in New Zealand. The goal of the site is to help kiwis working in the “sustainability space” to come together, share knowledge, build community, and take action. Whether your passion is organics, climate change, green buildings, or healthy lifestyles, find more cool switched on people on Celsias.
Celsias.co.nz gives Kiwis the ability to organise and take action on important issues and build a community-led response. In addition to a daily blog, the site features a variety of tools to share information, form discussions, start projects, and highlight initiatives.
The site started overseas three years ago with the overseas version, Celsias.com. It was founded by Marlborough clean tech entrepreneur Nick Gerritsen and former Christchurch Mayor Vicki Buck. Celsias.co.nz has come about through a collaboration with HB Media, the award-winning publishers of Good magazine and Idealog [disclosure: and Hot Topic – the book: GR].
Through the website we have the chance to really take the lead at a time when politicians seem to be backsliding. We know there are important issues out there needing action, ones that affect our future on our planet. At the end of the day, it is up to us to make a bright future possible. Celsias is a helpful tool to get things going.
On a side note, we’re also looking for bloggers, so if you have some interesting observations or know-how to share, we’d like to hear from you. Send us an email. Occasional columns to regular blog slots are available.
We look forward to seeing you on the site!
Thanks Chris. Welcome to the scene, and good luck. Hot Topic is pleased to be working with you. Readers will notice that posts by myself and Bryan will be popping up on Celsias from time to time.
