I nearly skipped over this one Bryan (so many words, so little time). Now I think I'll get the book (probably wait for the paperback release though). Thanks for this.

Nope - far too lofty for me there Bandersdad... I was meaning the fundamental difficulties, in a democracy, of agreeing who are 'the rascals', to what or whom must one be accountable, and the definition of 'right'.

Whilst having some sympathy for Person A's view I suspect A is assuming "sustainability" can be achieved; rather than Orr's real thrust toward "process".
Sustainability is a way of doing rather than a stop-off point and so not odd at all that Orr should include a great deal of philposophy and morality in his vision of a more sustainable future.
We are the central pieces of the puzzle. A and I are both trying to find the connections.

"...on the political side, “throw the rascals out”, demand accountability, elect leaders with courage and intelligence to lead in the right direction. "

...and that's the central piece in the puzzle.
